Jason Mabie, a native of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, has been singing since the age of 8, when he was cast as a Screen Actors Guild union member to sing a voice-over role for the motion picture "Home Alone". The son of parents who sing (Jason's dad has been writing, singing, and playing his own music on guitar and piano since the early 1970's, and his mom has been singing in church choir and accompanying his dad since the mid-70's.), Jason grew up around guitar, piano, singing, and an endless supply of great music playing on the stereo; everyone from James Taylor and Jackson Browne, to Ray Charles and The Temptations, to the Beatles and Stevie Wonder, to Fleetwood Mac and Van Morrison, etc. etc. Wanting to learn to play some of his favorite songs, Jason began learning guitar during his junior year at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. He also dove headfirst into performing at Notre Dame, starring in 9 full-length high school theatre productions. Jason attended college at UC Berkeley, and while singing with one of UC Berkeley's premier a cappella groups, The UC Men's Octet (Youtube.com keyword: UC Men's Octet 2003), Jason toured all over California, as well as Oregon, China, and Italy. Jason's 2003 Octet has been hired for an upcoming week-long tour in Hawaii this August. It was at Cal that Jason began writing his own songs. He is currently playing these songs (along with covers of his favorite artists) at open mics in San Francisco and the Bay Area. He's ecstatic to be back on stage regularly for the first time since 2003, and he can't wait to meet all of the other fantastic musicians that San Francisco attracts.
