“Oh really?” Says Thomas.

“O.K., the audible and the spirit world, then” said Jesse

“Do tell.” Said Tom, looking at his watch.

“Have you ever watched a flower grow?” Said Jesse.

“uhhh” said Tom.

Jesse went on. “It’s like watching a flower grow in high speed, with guitar and violin signals poping in and out. Try this; pour yourself a cup of English tea and place your chin on a rocking horse, lowering yourself to nature’s tiny level. Do you see sparks on the lily? The rose is asking you a question, Tom, do you not hear? It’s sort of like that.”

Tom turned his head up. ”I don’t have time for roses or tea. I have to go paint my piano again.”

“You’re a saint, Tom, but your heart is tuned to a dead channel. A piano must be romanced and songs revealed. It is up to us former piano painters to protest the hypnotists. Strum right in their guilty faces!
I was at the Goldenhearts concert scene, and I waltzed a girl right over a hole in the floor and she didn’t fall in, not one bit! She declared a truce, took off her gardening gloves and gave me her red shoes. A kiss was all that was left. So I turned my cheek to the right and begged for mercy. She undid her hair, and tumbling down like silken sunset, the air began to hum and breath. ”

Tom said “You mean, like, “Always forgive your enemies because it bugs them so much…” that kind of thing?”

“More like, love what you can, love when you can, before Jack the Ripper returns. I saw him on T.V. last night and it’s not like the old records. Not like Lennon…more like robots.” Jesse said.

Tom said. “I see. You and I like you to be free of worries and troubles, Strawberry wine, Venus and Cars, Saxophone illusions and card game bank heists, Freight train pinball machines and exotic pinstripes hats, right of the rack, snapdragon ice cream on a velvet Les Paul with a silver Gretsch tumbler beer back. Ghosts in lime green 3-dimentional glass jelly, relaxing after a midnight hot bath of gypsy music from a extraterrestrial radio.”
